Collin Davis, currently swimming for East Carolina Aquatics (ECA) has been named to the USA Deaf National Team and will compete this May in the Deaflympics in Caxias du Sol, Brazil. Congratulations and good luck at the meet! To learn more visit the USA Deaf Swim website.

The first-ever NCS A-Team Camp was held at the Orange County Sportsplex in Hillsborough on Sunday, Nov 7th. Congratulations to the athletes who were selected to attend and thank you to the NCS coaches and NCS senior athletes who volunteered to help at the camp.

Athlete volunteers serving on the staff included Sammy Carew, Andy Commins, Emma Kent, Kathryn Monville, Matt Shanahan, and Catherine Walsh. NCS Coach volunteers included Kristina Bond, Kim DeCann, Amy Faulk, Luke Frederick, Bradford Hancock, Katherine Holian, Alan Pfau, Jonathan Watson, and Delia Weber.
TYDE swimmer breaks NCS record
It didn’t take long for NCS swimmers to get back in the swing of things. The first NCS record of the short course season was set at the TYDE Andy Craver Invitational in Greensboro this past weekend.
Bodhi Cummins of TYDE set a new mark in the boys 10 and under 50 breaststroke with a time of 33.42.

2021 Scholastic All America Selections: NCS #1

USA Swimming just released its Scholastic All-America selections. Once again, leading all Local Swimming Committees (LSCs) in Scholastic All-America selections was North Carolina Swimming, which had 90 athletes receive the honor. SwimMAC Carolina, with 31 Scholastic All-America athletes led all clubs across the country.

NCS Awards Ceremony/Fall HOD Updates
2021 NCS AWARDS CEREMONY
The North Carolina Swimming Awards Ceremony will not be held at the McKimmon Center as originally planned but instead will be held at the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary Saturday, October 2, 2021, following the NCS All Star Clinic. The ceremony will recognize NCS All Stars in attendance at the clinic. The NCS All Star Clinic is exclusively for those on the NCS All Star list and will be held at the Triangle Aquatic Center beginning at 3:00 pm on Saturday. Pre-registration is required to attend the All Star clinic.
A registration form for the NCS All Star Clinic, along with additional information will be emailed to those on the All Star list in the next few days.
2021 NCS FALL HOUSE OF DELEGATES
The 2021 North Carolina Swimming Fall House of Delegates (HOD) meetings will be held at the McKimmon Conference Center in Raleigh on Saturday and Sunday, October 2-3, 2021.
The Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for Saturday afternoon from 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm. The Technical Planning meeting is planned for Sunday morning from 10:00 am – 11:30 am with HOD registration at 12:30 pm and the HOD meeting at 1:00 pm. Click the following link for the complete HOD weekend meeting schedule.
For those choosing not to attend in person, virtual viewing options will be made available with links sent out prior to the meetings.
2021 NCS All Star List
Below is the list of North Carolina Swimming athletes who achieved NCS All Star status during the period beginning on Sept 1, 2020 and ending on Aug 31, 2021 (athletes are listed by club code). The colored bars next to each swimmer’s name indicate how the athlete achieved All Star status and whether All Star status was achieved in multiple ways.
Those achieving All Star status will receive an All Star towel. Towels will be sent to the swimmers’ clubs for distribution
The NCS All Star list includes swimmers who achieved All Star Status in at least one of five ways.
- NCS Top Five short course times in at least two strokes (must be AAAA or better) as of Aug 31, 2021
- NCS Top Five long course times in at least two strokes (must be AAAA or better) as of Aug 31, 2021
- National Top Ten achievement in short course by individual age group as of Aug 31, 2021
- National Top Ten achievements in long course by individual age group as of Aug 31, 2021
- Open Water All Star recognition
- Each NCS swimmer who achieved NC Top-5 “AAAA” times in two or more of the following categories: distance freestyle, sprint freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, breaststroke, or individual medley in Short Course Yards is a NCS All Star upon verification by the NCS All Star Committee. The recognition period began September 1, 2020 and ended August 31, 2021.
- Distance Freestyle and Sprint Freestyle are considered distinct ‘strokes’ along with Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, and Individual Medley. Distance Freestyle include freestyle events 400 and longer for 17-18, 15-16, and 13-14; 200 and longer for 11-12 and 10&Under. Sprint Freestyle include freestyle events 200 and shorter for 17-18, 15-16, and 13-14; 100 and shorter for 11-12 and 10&Under.
- Each NCS swimmer who individually achieved at least one USA National Age Group Recognition Top 10 Time in either short course or long course is an All Star. Season-ending USA Swimming National Top Ten rankings by individual age as of August 31, 2021 determine achievement. USA Swimming rankings by age include ages 11,12,13,14,15,16,17, and 18,
- Swimmers are recognized as an NCS Open Water All-Star based on the Open Water All Star selection policy.
2021 NCS Top Five List
Below is the list of North Carolina Swimming athletes who finished with a Top Five time in one or more short course or long course event during the period beginning on Sept 1, 2020 and ending on August 31, 2021 (athletes are listed by club code). Top Fives are listed by age group – 10U, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, and 17-18. The colored bars next to the names indicate whether a Top Five time was achieved during short course (red bar) or long course (blue bar)…or both.
Those achieving Top Five status will receive Top Five swim caps. Caps will be sent to the swimmers’ clubs for distribution.
Top Five age group rankings should not be confused with the NCS Top Ten rankings, which are listed by individual age. Top Five achievement also has nothing to do with order of finish at NCS championship meets, but are based on age group rankings at the end of the qualifying period…which this year was August 31, 2021.
U.S. Open in Greensboro
The Toyota U.S. Open long course meet will be held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center on December 1-4, 2021.
