USA Swimming announces new insurance partner

November 16, 2021 by Bill Martin

USA Swimming is pleased to announce that we have successfully bound our renewals of general liability coverage, including sexual molestation coverage, excess liability coverage and excess accident medical coverage for 2022.

As in previous years, this coverage extends to USA Swimming, the USA Swimming Foundation, USA Swimming Local Swimming Committees (LSC) and USA Swimming member clubs.

For the general liability and excess liability coverage, we are switching to a different broker, Insurance Office of America (IOA). IOA is a full-service national insurance agency experienced in providing service to amateur sports organizations such a US Club Soccer, National Governing Bodies such as USA Triathlon and U.S. Masters Swimming, and several professional sports teams in the NFL, NBA and NHL. Learn more here.

Since 2015, IOA has provided the USA Swimming Insurance Marketplace with optional insurance coverages for member clubs. In 2016, IOA launched a Workers’ Compensation program for member clubs, as well as a Directors and Officers Insurance online quoting platform. Also, in 2019, IOA took over the corporate management liability insurance program for USA Swimming.

Even as experienced partners, USA Swimming and IOA want to ensure this transition is as seamless and as easy as possible for you. We invite you to reach out for assistance at any time. Contact details can be found in the insurance packet, accessed below or by visiting www.usaswimming.org/insurance.

Beyond reading the insurance packet, one important change we wish to highlight for you is the new process for requesting additional insured certificates of insurance. IOA requires LSCs and member clubs to request additional insured certificates from IOA directly. This can be accomplished by submitting a form either:

  • Online at https://fs22.formsite.com/usaswimming/IOA/index.html or
  • By emailing the fully completed IOA-USA Swimming General Liability Certificate Request Form (available on page 5 of the packet) to USASCOI@ioausa.com.

For more information about the USA Swimming-provided insurance coverages, please visit www.usaswimming.org/insurance

TAC Titans #1 in Club Excellence Rankings

October 19, 2021 by Bill Martin

USA Swimming announced 200 clubs that will be recognized as Gold, Silver or Bronze medal clubs in the 2021-2022 Club Excellence Program.

Number one seated club, TAC Titans (TAC), posted 69,591 points to oust 7-year defending champion Nation’s Capital Swim Club (NCAP) club by 9,215 points. TAC’s top performers include 2020 Tokyo Olympian Claire Curzan along with Charlotte Hook and Lance Norris.

SwimMAC Carolina (MAC), Dynamo Swim Club (DYNA) and Carmel Swim Club (CSC) round out the top five for 2022.

The program recognizes USA Swimming’s highest-performing clubs in the development of athletes ages 18 years and younger on an annual basis. In a new addition to last year, eligible athlete performances include both pool and open water swims.

North Carolina Swimming clubs not only had two of the top three ranked clubs in the country with the TAC Titans and SwimMAC Carolina but also had three clubs that were recognized as Silver medal clubs – North Carolina Aquatic Club (NCAC), Mecklenburg Swimming Association (MSA), Marlins of Raleigh (MOR) and three clubs recognized as Bronze medal clubs – YMCA of the Triangle Area Swim Team (YOTA), Sailfish Aquatics (SAIL), and YMCA of NW North Carolina Riptyde (TYDE).

In conjunction with the USA Swimming Club Excellence program, USA Swimming will honor 15 clubs as 2022 Podium Clubs. To qualify for Podium Club, a USA Swimming member club must achieve Gold Medal club status for four-consecutive years. Both the TAC Titans and SwimMAC Carolina are among those reaching this elite status.
