SwimMAC Boys set new relay marks

April 8, 2021 by Bill Martin

Several new NCS records were set at the recent SwimMAC Relay Meet. The SwimMAC 10 & under boys team with Cooper Raniszeski, Reid Cooler, Conner McCarthy, and Scott Williams set a new record in the 200 medley relay.

SwimMAC 13-14 boys relay teams set three new NCS records. The team of Mason Turner, John Kroll, Max Osman, and Granger Bartee established a new mark in the 13-14 boys 400 free relay. Osman, Turner, and Bartee were joined by Norvin Clontz in setting the 13-14 boys 400 medley relay record. The same group of Osman, Turner, Bartee, and Clontz also set the NCS record in the 13-14 boys 800 free relay. Their time of 6:55.16 was also faster than the National Age Group record!

Meanwhile, at the NCAA Divison I National Meet at the Greensboro Aquatic Center, the NCS State women’s team was also setting new NCS records. Katharine Berkoff broke the Open 100 back record with a time of 49.74. Her Wolfpack teammate, Sophie Hansson bettered her records in the Open 100 breast (57.23) and the Open 200 breast (2:03.86). The NC State women’s 800 free relay team of Julia Poole, Kylee Alons, Katharine Berkoff, and Kate Moore set a new NCS Open record in that event.

Congratulations!

Battaglini won the High Point Champion Award in the 16 and under age group at the 2021 ISCA International Senior Cup in St. Petersburg, Florida. His CKS teammate and former UNC co-captain Zhada Fields qualified for A finals in all her events. The meet included Olympic swimmers Ryan Lochte, Caeleb Dressel, Joseph Schooling, Jack Conger, and Farida Osman. 2021 Carolina Crown: Qualifiers and Registration Form

March 16, 2021 by Bill Martin

Congratulations Carolina Crown Swim Challenge qualifiers!

The 2021 Carolina Crown Swim Challenge will be held at the CSD Community YMCA in Clover, South Carolina on Saturday, April 24 and will feature top swimmers, ages 15-18, from both North Carolina and South Carolina. Participating athletes will receive team T shirts, sweat shirts, and swim caps.

Below are two lists; one list is Automatic qualifiers, and the other list is Alternate qualifiers.

Automatic qualifiers: athletes in the top 8 in NC or SC (by individual age 15, 16, 17, and 18 and gender) in any of the meet’s events.

NORTH CAROLINA SWIMMING AUTOMATIC QUALIFIERS

Alternate qualifiers:  athletes who are not Automatic qualifiers but are in the top 75 NC-SC combined standings (by individual age 15-18 and gender) in any of the meet’s events.

NORTH CAROLINA SWIMMING ALTERNATE QUALIFIERS

All Automatic and Alternate qualifiers interested in participating are encouraged to submit the athlete registration form and entry fee ASAP.  The $85 entry fee for those named to the Carolina Crown roster is non-refundable.

The registration fee will be refunded if an athlete registers and is not selected.

CAROLINA CROWN ATHLETE REGISTRATION FORM

The meet will be capped at 240 athletes with Automatic qualifiers receiving priority through March 24th.  If the 240 cap is reached with Automatic qualifiers, registration will close at that point.  If the 240 cap is not reached by March 25th,  those on the Alternate qualifier list will be added to the roster – with priority based on registration date.  After March 25th, once the cap is reached, registration will be closed to all Automatic and Alternate qualifiers.

Unless the 240 cap is reached earlier, the deadline for registrations is 10:00 pm on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.

Selections and team assignments will be posted by April 5, 2021.
