NCS IMX Camp: Go Time!

September 28, 2020 by Bill Martin

It’s NCS IMX Camp Go Time!

Hello NCS Coaches. The 2020 short course season is one like no other. Likewise, our IMX Camp selection process will be a bit different as we recognize best times this season can be achieved during sanctioned meets, non-sanctioned meets and at practice.

This season, IMX Camp selection will be based on best achieved short course times from September 7, 2020 through December 13, 2020 and will include 10 year olds.

Swimmers in the following age groups will need to swim the IMX events shown in order to achieve an IMX score.  No IMX score can be calculated until ALL IMX events have been completed:

10 year olds: 200 IM, 100 BK, 100 BR, 100 FL, 200 FR

11/12 year olds: 200 IM, 100 BK, 100 BR, 100 FL, 500 FR

13 year olds: 200 IM, 400 IM, 200 BK, 200 BR, 200 FL, 500 FR

We have created four IMX Meet Event files by age: (10, 11, 12, and 13) that coaches can use to record best times achieved. (Event files were emailed to coaches.) Swimmers should be listed as the age they are at the time of their swim.  As an example, if a swimmer is age 10 from Sept 7-20, but turns 11 on Sept 21, he or she should be listed as a 10 year old for any swims recorded between Sept 7-20, and should be listed as an 11 year old for swims from Sept 21 and later.  If you submit times on October 5, that swimmer could appear as both a 10 and as an 11 year old. Times swum by this swimmer at age 10 can be included in the new age group, however, the IMX score they receive will be less in the upper age group.  In December, a swimmer who has changed ages may be ranked in two age groups.

Coaches may submit times during any of the following sessions.  Times may be from sanctioned or non-sanctioned meets, time trials or timed swims from practice.  As sessions progress, only update times that are improved from previous submissions.  Submitting times slower than previous times for a swimmer will cause their IMX score to be reduced.  Reporting sessions are:

Session 1 – September 7 to October 4. (Submit by October 5, 2020)

Session 2 – September 7 to October 25(Submit by October 26, 2020)

Session 3 – September 7 to November 15 (Submit by November 16, 2020)

Session 4 – September 7 to December 13 (Submit by December 14, 2020)

Coaches should enter their swimmers in the camp selection process by doing the following:

1)       Import the IMX Camp Meet Event files for your swimmers.

2)       Enter results for each swimmer in the entry file occurring during that session. The best times can be from sanctioned meets, non-sanctioned meet, time trials or practice swims. Coaches can use the imported results from meet manager (sanctioned) or enter the results as custom entry times (non-sanctioned/practice swims).

3)       Submit the event file to olack.lisa@gmail.com by the session submission deadline shown above.

4)       Final results should be submitted to olack.lisa@gmail.com by December 14. The list of IMX CAMP selections and alternates will be published by December 23 on the NCS website at www.ncswim.org. Final camp numbers will be determined by the operational protocols of the Greensboro Aquatic Center at the time of this event in January 2021.

If you have any questions on the above procedures, please email:

NCS Camp Committee Chair, Katherine Holian: katherine@gsaswim.org, or

NCS Programs Chair, Jonathan Watson: 01silversurfer@bellsouth.net.
