It is with a very heavy heart that we share with you the sudden passing of Coach Kathy McKee earlier this week. Coach Kathy was highly respected and beloved throughout the swimming community. Kathy McKee will be incredibly missed by all.
Kathy’s impact on our sport, our LSC, USA Swimming community, NCS club programs she coached for (SwimMAC Carolina and NCAC), Coaches who learned and collaborated with her on deck, ALL the swimmers she coached, and every person who met her over the decades will never forget her. Kathy’s unwavering dedication, organizational leadership, inspiring spirit, and love for all things swimming defines her as a true Legend in the swimming community. Well Done Good and Faithful Servant.

NCS Represents at National Camps

Congratulations to our NCS Representatives for being selected to attend National Camps this month.
National Diversity Camp took place May 4-7, 2023 at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Santi Alzate (SwimMAC Carolina) and Coach Jamie Bloom (YOTA) were selected from NCS.
Southern Zone Select Camp took place at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky May 18-21, 2023. Athletes who earned their invite to this National level camp include Albert Smelzer (SGSA), Carolin He (TAC), Daisy Collins (NCAC), Emma Thomas (TAC), Ian Platts-Mills (NCAC), Madison Schmitz (MOR), Maria Champion (SwimMAC Carolina), Owen Lin (ECA), Reina Liu (GCY), Shayna Elgart (New WAVE), Sloane Whelehan (TAC), Yari Brock (NCAC).

Individual Achievements: Senior Champs
There were several outstanding individual performances at the North Carolina Swimming Senior Short Course Championship meet in Charlotte this past weekend. Congratulations to High Point award winners Max Nechydyuk of SwimMAC Carolina and Eva Boehlke of the North Carolina Aquatic Club.
Special congratulations also go out to Jordan Willis of SwimMAC. His time of 1:57.45 in the men’s 15-16 200 breast set a new NCS short course record in that event.

SwimMAC wins Senior SC Championship
Congratulations to SwimMAC Carolina, winner of the 2023 North Carolina Swimming Senior Short Course Championships held at the Mecklenburg Aquatic Center in Charlotte this past weekend. SwimMAC captured the championship with 2694 team points. Finishing in second place was the North Carolina Aquatic Club (NCAC), followed by the Marlins of Raleigh (MOR), the Raleigh Swimming Association (RSA), and the TAC Titans (TAC).

2023 CAROLINA CROWN Athlete Registration Form
REGISTRATION FOR THE CAROLINA CROWN SWIM CHALLENGE IS CLOSED.
The Carolina Crown Swim Challenge will be held on Sunday afternoon, April 16 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. This annual event features swimmers ages 15-18 from both North Carolina Swimming and South Carolina Swimming. The first long course meet of the season is in a fun environment and awesome facility. The cost per athlete is $95 and each participant gets a team cap, team T-shirt, team sweatshirt, and bag tag. Members of the winning team also receive a Carolina Crown towel.
Qualifiers for the Carolina Crown meet include athletes with the top-30 male and top-30 female times by individual age – 15,16,17, and 18 – in each contested event during the qualifying period 9/1/22 – 3/12/23. Each LSC has compiled its list of qualifiers. The goal is to have 60 male and 60 female swimmers from each LSC.

North Carolina Swimming Qualifier List
The first 60 male and first 60 female swimmers to register and submit payment from NCS and the first 60 male and first 60 female swimmers to register and submit payment from SCS (total of 240 swimmers) will be guaranteed a roster spot. The registration deadline is Friday, March 24th OR SOONER if all available slots are filled. GET YOUR REGISTRATION IN EARLY IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND!
2023 CAROLINA CROWN ATHLETE REGISTRATION FORM
There is a link to the Carolina Crown PayPal page on the registration form. The registration process is not complete until payment is received. Entry fees for those named to the Carolina Crown roster are NON-REFUNDABLE.
The meet will be held in conjunction with the 2023 Swimposium Carolina being held next door at the Greensboro Coliseum. The Swimposium will be in the morning with the Carolina Crown in the afternoon. University of Virginia coach Todd DeSorbo will speak at the Greensboro Aquatic Center following the Swimposium and prior to the Carolina Crown. Athletes selected to a Carolina Crown team roster do not need to register or pay to attend the Swimposium. Click here for information on the Swimposium.

Sign up now for the Carolina Crown Swim Challenge. The meet will be held on Sunday afternoon, April 16, 2023 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, NC. The Carolina Crown features top 15-18 year-old athletes from North Carolina and South Carolina.
PLEASE SIGN UP NOW. Officials who sign up by Feb 20th and are selected to officiate will receive a Carolina Crown officials’ shirt along with FREE admission to the Swimposium Carolina clinics (on Sunday morning) and a boxed lunch.
