The Swim GSA January Jump Start Meet in Greensboro January 13-16 is an Officials Qualifying Meet for national evaluations. Please sign up to officiate and request your optional national evaluation submitting the Swim GSA January Jump Start Evaluation form.

Sam Marsteiner of New Wave Swimming set two new North Carolina Swimming 13-14 boys short course records at the WAVE Quad meet held at the Triangle Aquatic Center last week. Marsteiner broke his own record in the 500 free with a time of 4:27.18 and also swam the 200 free in 1:40.18 to set a new mark in that event. Congratulations on those outstanding swims!

The new USA Swimming times database is not yet fully operational, so records and top times reports are not available. Please email billmartin@ncswim.org if an LSC record is broken, so it can be posted. Records and NCS top times will be updated and posted when those reports become available.

NCS meet officials were well-represented by Trish Martin, Lisa Olack, and Dave Olack at the FINA World Cup in Indianapolis this past week.

Congratulations to NCS athletes Ben Delmar (SwimMAC) and Matthew Lucky (SwimMAC) who are representing the USA at the 2022 Junior Pan Pacific Championships in Honolulu, Hawaii this week. Also, congratulations to coach Chuck Bachelor (SwimMAC) who is a member of the Team USA coaching staff. Good luck!

In Memory Of Lacy Anderson (Andy) Craver

April 1, 1977 – January 14, 1990

Andy Craver was a member of the Winston-Salem YMCA (WSY) swim team prior to his tragic death in January of 1990.  His hard work, effort, and determination resulted in a Top 16 time in the 100 Fly.  Andy is remembered fondly by all those who knew him, especially the many friends he made while participating in the sport of swimming.  As a testimony to Andy’s exemplary attitude toward swimming, the TYDE swim team, (formerly WSY), through North Carolina Swimming, gives an award each year that bears his name, the Andy Craver Determination Award.

Award Criteria

The purpose of this award is to recognize a NCS male or female age group swimmer who during the previous short or long course season, in the opinion of the selection committee, best demonstrated determination and dedication to the sport of swimming by:

·        Overcoming personal and/or physical obstacles, and thus providing a positive example;

·        Demonstrating a positive work ethic and a high level of self-motivation; and

·        Demonstrating a positive attitude toward peers, coaches, and swimming in general.

Nominating Process

Nominations are due in writing in the form of a letter of recommendation and must be received by August 31, 2022.  Nominations may be received by email, snail mail or fax using the information below:
