2023 NCS “A-TEAM” Swim Camp

September 19, 2023 by Amy Faulk

The NCS “A-TEAM” Swim Camp, for swimmers ages 11-14  whose long course times in 2023 ranked them highest among swimmers achieving “A” time standards, will be held at the Triangle Sportsplex in Hillsborough, NC on November 5, 2023.

Athletes selected were those who ranked highest during the long course season in the 100m fly, 100m back, or 100m breast and who had not yet achieved faster than the National “A” time standard.

Coaches will focus in-water sessions on fly, back, and breast and each will feature older athletes who have demonstrated excellence in the particular stroke highlighted.

NCS “A-Team” Camp Selections

If your name is on the A-Team Camp Selections list above and you would like to attend, please complete and submit the form below by deadline of Wednesday, October 4, 2023.

2023 NCS Top 5 List

September 7, 2023 by Amy Faulk

Below is the list of North Carolina Swimming athletes who finished with a Top Five time in one or more short course or long course event during the period beginning on Sept 1, 2022 and ending on August 30, 2023 (athletes are listed by club code). Top Fives are listed by age group – 10U, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, and 17-18. The colored bars next to the names indicate whether a Top Five time was achieved in short course (red bar) or long course (blue bar)…or both.

Those achieving Top Five status will receive Top Five swim caps. Caps will be sent to the swimmers’ clubs for distribution.

Top Five age group rankings should not be confused with the NCS Top Ten rankings, which are listed by individual age. Top Five achievement also has nothing to do with order of finish at NCS championship meets. The list is based on age group rankings at the end of the qualifying period…which this year was August 31, 2023.

Meet Bid Packet: 2024 Long Course Season

August 13, 2023 by Amy Faulk

MEET BID PROCEDURE: Please use the form below to submit your 2024 Long Course meet bids by 09/30/23.

Here is the bid packet for submitting meet bids for the 2024 long course season. It includes both the Meet Bid Framework and the Meet Bid Form.

Meet Bid Framework

The meet bid framework provides dates of notable meets, including sectional and national events, and indicates closed weekends during the 2024 long course season.

Meet Bid Form

The meet bid form is the method for submitting your meet bids to the meet scheduling committee. Simply complete and submit a form for each of your club’s meet bids.  Please note the closed weekends when submitting bids.

Completing the Meet Bid Form

The meet bid form allows the Meet Scheduling committee to gather and provide clubs with complete and consistent meet information. The form is divided into three sections:

  1. Basic Meet Information (dates, host club, meet name, location, etc.)
  2. Meet Type (meet type, course type, meet category, age group)
  3. Meet Fees (individual fees, relay fees, facility fees, travel fund, parking, other)

Click the link to the Meet Bid Form to get started. After completing all required fields (identified by an asterisk) in a section, click NEXT. After completing the entire form, click SUBMIT.  You will be asked if you want to submit another response.  If you do, click “submit another response” and repeat the process for your next meet.

Meet bids submitted will automatically populate the 2024 Long Course Bid Schedule posted on the NCS website. Here, you can view what you’ve submitted. (The spreadsheet does not automatically sort by date, so the most recently submitted bids will appear at the bottom but will be sorted periodically as bids come in.)

Meet Bid Deadline:09/30/23
Schedule Planning Meeting:09/30/23
Meet Calendar Approved:10/01/23 HOD
Approved Calendar Posted:10/02/23

If you have any questions on the Meet Bid Form contact Barb Frith – pfrith@mac.com.

REMINDER:

Clubs must be Safe Sport Recognized to bid on NCS Championship meets.

Meets will not be sanctioned unless the host club is Safe Sport Recognized.

NOTE:

Pending legislation may open the closed weekends in April, June, and July (Spring HOD, Open Water Champs, Age Group Champs, and Senior Champs). Please bid your meets assuming these weekends are closed but note on the bid form if you prefer to change your bid date if the legislation passes.

Thank you,

Andy Craver Award Nominations

August 13, 2023 by Amy Faulk

In Memory Of Lacy Anderson (Andy) Craver

April 1, 1977 – January 14, 1990

Andy Craver was a member of the Winston-Salem YMCA (WSY) swim team prior to his tragic death in January of 1990.  His hard work, effort, and determination resulted in a Top 16 time in the 100 Fly.  Andy is remembered fondly by all those who knew him, especially the many friends he made while participating in the sport of swimming.  As a testimony to Andy’s exemplary attitude toward swimming, the TYDE swim team, (formerly WSY), through North Carolina Swimming, gives an award each year that bears his name, the Andy Craver Determination Award.

Award Criteria

The purpose of this award is to recognize a NCS male or female age group swimmer who during the previous short or long course season, in the opinion of the selection committee, best demonstrated determination and dedication to the sport of swimming by:

·        Overcoming personal and/or physical obstacles, and thus providing a positive example;

·        Demonstrating a positive work ethic and a high level of self-motivation; and

·        Demonstrating a positive attitude toward peers, coaches, and swimming in general.

Nominating Process

Nominations are due in writing in the form of a letter of recommendation and must be received by September 5, 2023.  Nominations may be received by email, snail mail or fax using the information below:
