NC Swimming Officials Mentoring Program
NC Swimming Officials’ Committee has developed a program to provide additional mentoring and guidance to officials.
NOTE: This program is separate from the National Evaluation and Certification process related to N2, N3i, and N3f evaluations.
- The program is voluntary and not required.
- The mentoring process is intended for any official regardless of their experience level.
- Please only fill out one form per official
- Individuals requesting a mentor will be matched up with a mentor within a few weeks. If more than a month goes by and you have not heard additional information after you submit the form – please email to zone2rep@ncswim.org

Volunteer to be a Mentor
The Official’s Committee is looking for individuals to provide experience and guidance to those looking to enhance their officiating skills. Requirements to qualify as a mentor include:
The program is voluntary and not required.
- In good standing with USA Swimming (up to date Registration, Background Check, Athlete Protection Training)
- One year or more in the position you will be mentoring
- Officiated at two or more different pools in the last year
- Approved by the Officials Committee
Individuals volunteering to be a mentor will be matched up with a mentee as appropriate.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Can you be a mentor and a mentee?
- Yes, you can mentor someone and get a mentor for yourself.
- How long is the mentoring relationship expected to last?
- That depends on what the mentee wishes to get out of the relationship. We would like the mentor and mentee to establish a comfort level that could be called upon in the future if other swimming related questions present themselves.
- Is this only for new officials or can anyone request a mentor?
- Anyone regardless of their experience level can request a mentor.
