2014 North Carolina Swimming 14 & Under Short Course Championships
Weather Contingency Plan Is In Effect
Because of the severe winter storm, a backup plan will be implemented for the NCS 14U Short Course Championship Meet. The main goal is to make sure everyone can travel safely and that the swimmers can all participate in the events they have qualified for.
The decision has been made to adjust the NCS 14U SC Championship Meet to the Winter Weather Contingency Plan. Meet management will continue to monitor the weather situation and advise of any further changes. Please visit the STAR Aquatics’ website at (www.staraquatics.com) for additional meet information.
Here is the NCS 14U SC Championships Final Snow Plan for the meet this weekend with the adjusted schedule. We will be running the entire meet as timed finals and will be starting tomorrow night with the General Meeting at 4:00pm, Warm-ups at 4:30 and the meet starting at 5:30. I know there will be no way to please everyone in this type of situation and that some swimmers will may have to miss an event or session, but in working through this with Mike, Kathy & Jon we feel this gives everyone who qualified a chance to swim and will allow us to get past the weather a little bit.
Please encourage your families to put safety first and if they don’t feel safe driving then to please not do so.
Also, this timeline is based on entries so please do not use this to gauge when you will arrive at the meet. Positive check-in events could adjust the event swim time. Positive Check-in times will be posted and sent out shortly.
This scenario will allow us to swim all events with the exception of 10 & Under swimmers who will be limited to 5 events per day. If this effects one of your swimmers, you will need to notify Michele (Michele@staraquatics.net) of the event they wish to drop or they will be removed from their last event.
Due to having two sessions on Saturday we are backing the warm-up time up on Sunday to 8:00 with the meet starting at 9:30am.
We do not expect any additional changes to this plan and any additional information will be emailed out to you and posted on the STAR Aquatics webpage (http://www.staraquatics.com/).
I hope to have warm-up assignments completed tonight and will get those out to you as soon as possible.
Please feel free to give me a call if you have any questions.
Thanks again and I hope to see you all this weekend!
